This could possibly be my last post on this blog, as I haven't been able to find much time for volunteering since I got a paid job and I've started a new blog mostly about the creative crafty projects I get up to at work (why not take a look?)
But one thing I have managed to find time for, because it's so incredibly rewarding, is walking dogs at the RSPCA in York. Once registered as a volunteer, all you have to do is turn up and see if any dogs need taking out. Easy peasy!
The only problem is that I fall in love with the dogs and want to take them home...
This is Elliot and I want to take him home so badly!!! But I can't and he's so lovely that I'm sure someone will give him a wonderful home very soon. It's very sad to hear about all the horrible cases of neglect and abuse but it feels fantastic to take these guys outside for a run on the grass!
It's a very sociable hobby to have. Everytime we drop by the animal home we say hi to all the friends we've made on previous walks - Sky the staffy, our very first dog we walked, Bella the Shar pei X with a poorly eye who loves doing army rolls, Ozzy the three legged staffy... and the rest of the gang! I'm sure it will be a bit sad when all our favourites disappear, but it would be even more sad if they stayed in the kennels when they deserve loving homes, long walks and lots of cuddles!
